Near Field Communication (NFC) is an ISO standard technology for short range (10 cm)
radio-frequency communication, which can enable contactless access control, ticketing,
payment, and several other applications. It is optimized for inclusion in mobile
telephones.
NGMS timothy - NFC-based ticketing
NGMS timothy is a software system built to replace the traditional paper tickets
and to simplify today's uncomfortable ticket purchase and validation process.
With NGMS timothy, customers can purchase tickets over the air (directly from
a ticket service provider or the transport company, using mobile internet connection)
or via NFC terminals, by tapping their mobile phone to the terminal. They can pay for
the tickets with credits purchased from the transport company or a third party. Tickets
are stored on the NFC chip which resides in the mobile phone, and provides secure and
tamper-proof storage. Customers can enter the station or a vehicle by choosing a ticket
from the purchased ones on their mobile, then waving the phone to the validator device.
The validator can allow or reject the entry based on the ticket presented by the mobile
phone.
NGMS timothy is in work-in-progress state. It will target public transport and
parking companies as well as event organizers. If you are interested in participating
in this project or you have any questions, please contact us.
